Dustin Hoffman and Jason Bateman Kissing??!!??

OK... so this is weird.

Married actor types Dustin Hoffman and Jason Bateman kissing each other on the lips? In the middle of a crowded audience during the NBA finals?! We didn’t even know they were friends, let alone the type of friends who pucker-up mid-match. There’s nothing to suggest they were doing it for a film…or a dare. Perhaps they were just overwhelmed by the moment? After all, we’ve seen grown men kiss each other in the pub when their football team scores a last-minute goal. Still, it’s all a bit weird. All respect to Dustin, though. Talk about punching (or make that kissing) above your weight. Juno actor Jason is pretty hot after all.

Dodged a big bullet here!

After that whole holiday weekend of eating everything I shouldn't, i.e. ribs, burgers, potato salad, fish tacos, pizza, you name it... I was afraid to see what damage I had wrought upon myself and my dieting regime. This morning I fortified myself with a cup of strong coffee and got on the WiiFit balance board and weighed myself so I could report to you, my readers, of the damage done. It turns out that I have gained only 1.1 pounds! Considering everything, I think that is pretty good. Being a good "Do-Bee" for the rest of this week and a handful of hydrochlorothiazide on Sunday and Monday and I should be able to show a net loss for this two week period when I go to Jenny's next Monday. Whew!

Memorial Day 2010 Update

Yesterday was Memorial Day and we celebrated at our house with a barbecue. The Jenny Craig diet went out of the window yesterday. The menu included Grilled Clams with Casino Sauce, Deviled Eggs (brought along by Shari Lee), Kansas City-style Barbecued Pork Ribs, Beef Burgers with Huntsman Cheddar and Frenchy's Homemade Tomato Jam, Potato Salad (prepared by Contessa di Pomodori) and Cherry Tomato and Mozzarella Salad. We finished off the meal with Strawberry Shortcake. Yum-Yum! I gave everything a taste and had a great time. Although I must say that I did not weigh myself after this "festa di mangiare" because I was just too afraid of what I might've seen. I will wait until tomorrow or Thursday to see what havoc was wrought over the holiday weekend.

Guests included The boys from Cafe Chew (Bob and Tobin), Shari Lee and the Contessa as mentioned, as well as Mr. B and me. I put out the croquet set and was hoping everyone would get into the mood but only Bob wielded the mallet for just a couple of practice shots. The greater part of the day was taken up by good old-fashioned conversation, which was great as I haven't seen the boys and girls for a while.

A big "Thank You" to Mr. B for being such a big help with the set-up and clean-up. He really was a huge assistance.
