Palin's Foreign Policy Credentials
Now that Palin has met with Karzai, Uribe and now Henry Kissinger, we can rest easy. She now has all the education she needs to head our government and outline our foreign relations. I wonder what Henry was thinking about. Here's that scamp Henry meeting with another famous woman:
Says Maureen Dowd:
Sarah speed-dated diplomacy on Tuesday. She had her very first national security briefing from the director of national intelligence and then went to a meeting with the Afghan president, Hamid Karzai. He thanked her for the help of the Alaskan National Guard in Afghanistan and told her about his young son, Mirwais, which means “the Light of the House.” Then she met with President Álvaro Uribe of Colombia.
Finally, Sarah huddled with Henry in his Park Avenue office, next to pictures of Ford and Reagan. The two made an odd couple: the last impure Rockefeller Republican and the first pure Rovian Republican, grown totally in the petri dish of cultural crusaderism.

A TRILLION Dollars
From Daily Kos:
I've been trying ... to think of a way to illustrate how big a trillion is. The best that I could come up with is that if you had a stack of $1000 bills in your hand only four inches high you would be a millionaire. A trillion dollars would be a stack of $1000-dollar bills 67 miles high.

Disgraceful
From TPM
If there's one lesson to be drawn from the Bush years, it's that the old chestnut about the cover up being worse than the crime is just not true. It's a lesson the McCain camp has learned well. They made the calculation that whatever political price would be paid by impeding the duly authorized investigation of the Alaska legislature would be less than the political damage resulting from a full investigation. So far, it looks like they calculated correctly.
