Everything old is new again

When I was a kid in the 60's the TV shows I liked the best were fantasy-type shows like Star Trek, Batman and, of course, Green Hornet. The first two have had their reboots and were commercial successes of the first order. While the 1966 series was a reboot of the radio serials itself it had a lot for a young guy like me to enjoy; Handsome Van Williams as socialite Britt Reid (the Green Hornet) and the iconic Bruce Lee as Kato. Mr. Reid and Kato lived in a swanky "in-town" apartment where as a newspaper publisher Reid was always involved in what was going on in the city. When something happened to upset the peace in the city, a press of a button in his garage and the floor rotated to reveal Black Beauty, his modified Lincoln Town Car with all kinds of cool gizmos and emerald green headlights. Reid was dressed in a green trilby hat and a green Chesterfield coat while Kato dressed in chauffeur drag. They fought off the bad guys with non-lethal weapons and always brought the bad guys to justice.

Well it seems that Green Hornet has now gotten a reboot and will premiere in January 2011. From the look of the preview below it looks like it may be a great deal of fun. I especially like that they kept the same style going on the Black Beauty. Definitely an homage to the original TV show. Can't wait!!
