Trump update from Burlington, VT

Maria Mambo's reporting from The Northeast Kingdom:

Well.. after people waited in line literally all day, and there were plenty of them, Trump staffers questioned them at the door and if they said they were not a Trump supporter they were not allowed in. Word spread down the line and many lied to get in. When they spoke out in the theater, he had bouncers throw them out immediately and even told the bouncers to not give them their coats. There were more protesters outside by large numbers and every time someone got thrown out, the crowds would cheer as the ejected person walked out. MSNBC covered it live from a nearby pub with Howard Dean, Ben & Jerry and tons of Bernie supporters. The other networks don't touch it. But obviously this tactic has been used in other cities to get people there, whether for or against, and he can say 'Look how many people came out to see me?' Thank God all was peaceful but there is a lot of questions being asked as to how he got away with what he did and who the bouncers were. He is so frighteningly stupid! The parts I did watch all he did was talk about himself!

Thanks MKM for your reporting...

Intrepid House Party Vermont correspondent Maria Mambo on Trump's swing through Vermont (**UPDATED**)

Burlington, VT:

Okay - so Trump rents out the Flynn Theater in Burlington to hold a rally tonight but they handed out close to 20,000 tickets and the Flynn holds a mere 1,400 !!! Now the city and police are scrambling to cover the event carefully with mucho police presence, shut down streets etc. at a whopping price for the people of Burlington to pay for. I think he should or his campaign promoters should be fined for creating a public safety event and pay for all this extra coverage.
There are lots of groups planning on protesting and it appears he has created another media event right here in Bernie's backyard. I personally hope and pray it does not get out of hand as it has created a very dangerous and volatile situation. A friend of ours is going with a group of Vietnam vets and there are already people there and it is close to 0 degrees out!!! YIKES !!!!!
Originally there was an underground movement of people who got tickets with the intention of not going and therefore leaving the seats empty so I guess the campaign promoters got wind of it and kaboom! I feel sorry for the people who manage the Flynn, it is scary to think that it might get ugly and is all the talk up here which will bring out the extremists for sure!

Thanks Mary Kaye and keep sending those reports!

New Product Testing: Wewalka Bistro-Style Pizza Dough

Well, I was at the Stop & Shop yesterday and I was trying to think of something quick and easy for dinner when I came upon this new product, Wewalka Bistro Style Pizza Dough. This is a 'thin and crispy' pizza dough that is all rolled out, put on a piece of parchment paper and rolled into a cylinder and sold in the refrigerated dough section of the market. You simply unroll the dough, top it, pop it into the oven and you get a nice pizza in 12-15 minutes. What could be easier or more convenient? I had some red gravy in the freezer, pepperoni and cheese in the fridge so I bought one.

Now I'm more of a Sicilian-type pizza where the dough has a little more heft to it but as there is plenty of heft to me already, a thin and crispy pizza is probably better for me in the long run. However, the pizza was super easy to make and tasted just fine. Except for the dough, you are using your own ingredients, so as long as the dough is not the star of the show this pre-made dough was just fine. I will probably get a couple of these for the freezer to keep on hand for a quick and easy dinner. Some photos are below:

Wewalka is apparently an Irish company. They also make a rectangular dough that I understand is a thicker style crust. Will try that one too.

Take the dough from the sleeve and unroll it on your counter. Meanwhile pre-heat your oven to 425 degrees. They recommend using a sheet pan so instead of placing the dough with its parchment on the pan cold, I placed the sheet pan upside down on the middle rack of the oven to pre-heat with the oven.

This is what it looks like unrolled. I wonder what else you could use this dough for? Hors d'oeuvres?

Top with your favorite toppings

I used my pizza pele to slip the pizza onto the hot sheet pan. Bake for 12-15 minutes.

As you can see the pizza cooked nicely and had a very crisp crust.

A better look at the crust. I will definitely buy these again. Nice job Wewalka!
